Matriarch of a Bishnoi Family. The Bishnoi are the protectors of wild animals and the results of their mission are clearly visible in the Rajasthan area, where deer, antelope, blackbuck (the Indian black antelope) and chinkara (benneti gazelle) thrive. The earring in the nose is used by the matriarch of the family and when she dies the earring passes to the oldest married woman in the family.
